GMS Library Summer Reading List 2023

 

North Star YA Award: The North Star YA Award is designed to expand literary horizons of students in grades 9-12 by encouraging them to read, evaluate, and enjoy a selection of new books and to choose a statewide favorite by written ballot each spring. (Think of it as the Maine Student Book Award for teens).

Use your library card to download audiobooks and ebooks. You may borrow up to three books at a time and place holds on books that are currently checked out. Need a library card? Apply for one at the library.

 

Local Land Trusts

Get outdoors and explore. Chebeague and Cumberland Land Trust and Royal River Conservation Trust preserve local land and water to explore, kayak, hike, picnic, and play. They also offer programs and events for families and individuals.

For teens in grades 6-12.

Teens, let your voices be heard! Hang out with friends and help make the library work best for teens. Give your input about teen programming, and print and digital resources that are available at the library. Volunteer to help out at selected kids' programs. Write book talkers. Plan teen book displays. Earn community service hours. New faces are always welcome. No registration required. 

Lit Loot

A Book Subscription Bag for Teens

Register by the 21st of the month

Register and complete a short survey by the 21st of the month. Lit loot bags will be available for pickup on the Grab-n-Go shelf at the library on/after the first of the following month.

What's in the bag, you ask?

Each Lit Loot bag will have 2 library books based upon the preferences indicated in your survey and a selection of small goodies to keep. Return the books and bag by the due date, and keep the goodies.

**You *must* fill out a registration form for each month you wish to participate in Lit Loot.**
